Hint:, it wasn't because it was the better option. Yes, you got a box and a hard copy of everything but it should be obvious to anyone with two functioning brain cells why that was. I remember expansions appearing for some top titles in the 90s but they were not cheap and often cost as much as a full game. There were no expansions back in the 80s. It sounds to me like you're only going back about 20 years which is not that long at all. And as I stated before, as long you have the System, you'll be able to play them while digital games could be cancel. some of the games are worth way more than what they used to be worth back in the day (Because they are collectibles). So back then you did get a hard/physical copy (not digital). Games are boxed (not digital), fully playable if you have the system that "runs" them. I have games that did cost to my "elders" around 50$ (for basic vanilla). So I don't know what you saying about "is better today" Well I am not a grandparent yet, but games I bought back in the 80's had no DLC, no workshop, no bug fixes.īack in the days they had Expansions, not DLCs.
